How this calculator works
We take your square footage and scale it by a wall-density factor and a per-floor penalty to estimate real coverage demand, then map that to a hardware tier — single router, high-performance router, or a 2/3-node mesh. Device count nudges the recommendation toward Wi-Fi 6/6E when you have many clients.
Example
A 2,000 sq ft, two-storey home with standard drywall produces an effective demand of about 3,100 — landing in the 2-to-3-node mesh range for even coverage across floors.
Limitations
This is a planning estimate, not a radio-frequency site survey. Real coverage depends on router placement, interference from neighbours, appliance noise, and exact wall materials. Use it to narrow your options, then test in your own home.
